THRISSUR: Vigilance found Rs 15 lakhs worth of currency notes from the residence of a doctor who was earlier arrested for asking Rs 3000 bribe for conducting surgery. Dr. Shery worked as an Orthopaedic at Thrissur medical college. The vigilance after the arrest conducted a quick raid at his residence when the Rs 15 lakhs popped out. Vigilance is of the view that the found money might be bribes procured by the doctor over the years.

The vigilance took up the case after receiving a complaint from a Palakkad native. Dr. Shery asked for Rs 3000 to be brought to his private clinic for conducting surgery on the complainant's wife who was injured in an accident.

After receiving the complaint, vigilance came with Phenolphthalein-smeared currency notes and handed it over to the complainant. When the bribe was exchanged inside the clinic, vigilance jumped into action arresting Shery. Earlier too, one accusation against Shery was raised but the doctor escaped scrutiny for the lack of solid evidence.
