THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CITU leader brutally slapping a bus owner named KR Ajay in Thiruvarppu Kottayam while the police was watching, had been severely criticized by the High Court the other day. The remark that the slap was received on the court's face shocked the conscience of the community.

Yesterday, Kerala Kaumudi sought the response of prominent labor organizations in the incident. The leaders of the organizations, except CITU, responded that they accepted the High Court's criticism. Leaders of INTUC, AITUC and BMS said that such violence is condemnable.

At the same time, CITU, which has come under criticism from the court, did not give a clear response. CITU state president Anathalavattom Anandan had a strange reaction that the motor workers union involved in the incident should give an explanation first. Motor Workers Union is also a part of CPI's trade union, CITU, but the response was that clarity is needed. Ajay, who assaulted bus owner Rajmohan, is a CPM Kottayam district committee member and Thiruvarppu panchayat member.

Court criticism is serious

The criticism made by the High Court is very serious. The incident, which happened when the police stood without intervening due to the intervention of the labor union associated with the ruling party, is being discussed seriously by the public. The Labor Department should be diligent in conducting timely inspections and mediation efforts in the labor sector.

(INTUC State President)

A friendly atmosphere is required

The tripartite friendship between the worker-employer-government is most important. This is internationally recognized. Any industry can grow only if there is a friendly atmosphere in the work sector. This lack of atmosphere is also the reason for court criticism.

KP Rajendran

(AITUC, State Secretary)

Class enemy theory must change

We agree with the criticism of High Court. Such methods of protest are unacceptable. CPM theory views the employer as a class enemy. Rather, mutual respect is needed. Trade unions should not be dragged into the approach that if the employer is not subservient to the party, he is a class enemy.
