THRISSUR: Dr Sherry Isaac of Thrissur Medical College, who was arrested by vigilance in a bribery case, had taken bribes widely. The vigilance has received several complaints against him.

It is clear from various complaints that Dr Sherry Isaac did not start the treatment without taking bribes from those his patients in the Thrissur Government Medical College. Patients requiring specialist treatment coming to the medical college will be asked to come to the private clinic at Ottupara. The patients are charged 300 rupees to see the doctor once.

For further treatment in the medical college, a bribe is asked through the nearby medical shop owner. A minimum payment of Rs 3000 is required to get a date for the surgery. If the patient wants the surgery to take place before the date mentioned by the doctor, the amount will increase even more. The surgery of non-payers will be extended indefinitely for various reasons.

Fifteen lakhs and twenty thousand rupees were found by the Vigilance during the inspection of Dr Sherry Isaac's house. The primary conclusion of vigilance is that it was earned through bribery. Vigilance has decided to proceed with a detailed investigation after receiving many complaints.
