THRISSUR: Dr Sherry Isaac (59), Associate Professor at the Department of Orthopedics, Government Medical College in Mulangunnathukkavu, who was caught by vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 3000, has been suspended. Dr. Sherry took a bribe of 3000 from a man, whose wife had to undergo a hand surgery.

The vigilance action was based on the complaint of a resident of Palakkad.

The doctor demanded Rs 3000 as a bribe from the husband of a woman injured in the accident for performing surgery. He asked him to give the money to a clinic in Ottupara, where he runs a private practice, to set a date for the surgery.

Then the husband informed the vigilance. Based on the complaint, the vigilance sent a phenolphthalein-coated note to the complainant. After taking the bribe, the vigilance caught Sherry Isaac red-handed. Bribery complaints were raised against Sherry Isaac earlier too, but he got away with it due to lack of evidence.

After his arrest, more than Rs 15 lakhs was found in his house. The money was kept in denominations of Rs 2000, 500, 200, and 100. About one and a half lakh rupees were also found from his house in Kochi. Dollar notes were also found here.
