ruckus

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Crime branch has started reinvestigation in the assembly ruckus case. In the first phase, the statements of former MLA B Sathyan and the then watch and wards were taken. In the next step, the statements of the UDF MLAs of that day will be recorded. Nine MLAs of the day and 60 people identified in the CCTV footage were given notices to appear for the statement. The statement of the then speaker N Shakta will be recorded next week.

LDF's then MLAs ES Bijimol and A Geetha Gopi have filed a complaint that they were also injured in the violence in the House on March 13, 2015, when Finance Minister KM Mani, who was accused of bar bribery, was presenting the budget. Their complaint is that although the medical records are with the charge sheet, they have not been testified in the case. In the re-investigation, there is a possibility that UDF MLAs will also be made accused. The trial court has the power to add more persons as accused.

The first witness was the then Legislative Assembly Secretary PD Sharangadharan. An FIR was also lodged on his complaint. Minister V Sivankutty, MLA KT Jaleel, former MLAs K Kunhammed, CK Sadashivan, K Ajith and LDF convener EP Jayarajan are listed as accused in the current list. The court allowed reinvestigation with the condition that it should be completed within 60 days.
