VISAKHAPATNAM: In a shocking incident, a tomato farmer was killed by unknown assailants after he sold 70 boxes of tomatoes.The incident took place on Tuesday night in Andhra Pradesh. Narem Rajasekhar Reddy (62), a native of Madanapalle was strangled to death.The initial conclusion of the police is that the assailants came to rob the money he had earned selling tomatoes.

Rajasekhar Reddy was attacked on Tuesday night while he was going to the village to deliver milk. Police suspect that the assailants stopped him midway and strangled him to death with a towel around his neck after tying him to a tree.

According to the police, the accused targeted Reddy to rob him as the price of tomatoes had skyrocketed. Reddy had sold 70 boxes of tomatoes the other day. Before the murder, the same group had reached Reddy's farm on the pretext of buying tomatoes. But his wife Jyoti sent them back saying that he was not there and had gone to the village.

Police have started an investigation for the accused in the incident.
