THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to the Met Dept, there is a possibility of rain in the state for three days from Sunday. A new cyclonic system is likely to form over northwest Bay of Bengal. It will intensify and become low pressure. In this situation, there is a possibility of rain if low pressure becomes active from south Maharashtra coast to north Kerala coast.
Central and northern districts will also receive more rain. Isolated rain will occur in southern districts. Severe thunderstorms are also possible. Fishing should not be done during these days as strong wind speed up to 40-45 kmph and on some occasions up to 55 kmph is possible in Kerala- Lakshadweep coasts. The State Disaster Management Authority has also warned coastal residents to be alert as high waves and storm surges are possible with 0.9 to 1.3 meters on the Kerala coast and 0.8 to 1.2 meters on the south Tamil Nadu coast.
