KANNUR: Kannur Range DIG Putta Vimaladitya has ordered the dismissal of seven police officers, who aided sand mafia gangs, and the removal of two grade ASIs and five civil police officers from service. At present all are working in the Kannur range.

Grade ASIs Joy Thomas P (Kozhikode Rural), Gokulan C (Kannur Rural), Civil Police Officers Nishar PA (Kannur City), Shibin MY (Kozhikode Rural), Abdul Rasheed TM (Kasargod), Shejeer VA (Kannur Rural), Harikrishnan B (Kasargod) were dismissed.

The action is for establishing friendship with the sand mafia group and leaking the movements and location of senior police officers. The action was based on convictions of serious breach of discipline, misconduct, misconduct and bringing the police into disrepute.
