KOLLAM: In one curious case, a woman submitted two applications for marriage in the two sub-registrar's offices in Kollam district. The two applications had two different male names. After learning about the incident, it was found that in two weeks' time, the woman changed her mind and selected her old partner, rejecting her latest love interest. However, the sub-registrar has called for a hearing for the two applications submitted.
The applicant is a lab technician in Pathanapuram. She gave an application in the Pathanapuram sub registrar's office on June 30 to marry a Punnala native man. An online request was also completed by the same applicant. However, on July 13, the same woman submitted another application in the Punalur sub-registrar's office to marry a Punalur native man. Here also, the online request was made.
The woman hails from Pathanapuram, so the Punalur sub-registrar decided to send a notification of the application to the Pathanapuram sub-registrar's office when the confounding case came to light. The woman reached the Pathanapuram sub registrar's office with the Punalur native man yesterday and gave her side of the story.
According to her, she has been in a living together relationship with the Punalur native for a long. However, a recent tiff between them forced her to stay with her mother. At this time, she came close to a Pathanapuram native and according to her, this man tricked her into signing on a paper, which she had no idea was a legible application for marriage.
However, the sub-registrar in Pathanapuram was not ready to believe fully her side of the story. He has asked the Punnala native and the women to be at the office for the hearing on July 21. Meanwhile, the Punalur sub-registrar's office has also called for a meeting between the women and the Punalur native on July 22.
