THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM has decided to organize seminars in other districts and invite the Muslim League to all of them in continuation of the seminar to be held in Kozhikode today against the Uniform Civil Code. The position is that Congress and communal parties should not be invited.
The decision of the CPM state secretariat meeting held yesterday is to strengthen the campaign that Congress does not have a clear stand on the issue at the national level. Navodhana Mulya Samrakshana Samithi, which was formed during the Sabarimala women's entry controversy, will also be part of the campaign.
Leaders of Navodhana Samithi have been invited to the seminar in Kozhikode today. CPM is of the opinion that whether to participate in the seminar is the sole decision of the Muslim League. The Left Front meeting to be held on the 22nd will decide on whether to undertake further programs. CPM will try to convince the constituent parties that there is no other interest in inviting the Muslim League. CPM will strengthen its involvement to garner the support of religious minorities to get benefits in the Lok Sabha elections.
The CPM Secretariat has assessed that the alternative proposal for the semi-high-speed rail project put forward by E Sreedharan being actively discussed in Kerala, gives the impression that such a project is possible in Kerala. E Sreedharan's alternative proposal has been submitted to the Chief Minister when the Silver Line project is awaiting approval from the central government. Further interventions should be at the government level.
As the content of Sreedharan's report did not reach the CPM leadership, the discussion on it did not take place in the state secretariat.
