THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPM's policy document suggests that a special cultural department should be formed in the student sector. "Cultural studies schools should be up to the party unit level. There should be ivolvement in the social media. While communalism and extremist movements are active in the field of worship and faith, their moves to mislead the people must be resisted. Propaganda should be organized to see that religious belief and communalism are two. Scientific thinking and high cultural awareness should be developed in children.", the document reads.
"Independence Day, Keralapiravi Day, Republic Day, Onam, Christmas, Easter, Ramzan, Vishu etc. should be celebrated by all groups and try to make them secular. Ideas of New Kerala should be spread. . The lives, works and contributions of social reformers and revolutionaries who reacted against caste inequalities, human division ideologies and discrimination against women from ancient times should be studied in depth. The cultural currents that oppress women, Dalits, tribals, minorities etc. should be exposed.", the document adds.
Religious fanaticism and superstition should be resisted
□Hindutva political forces, bigotry, superstition and injustice should be exposed who create a false impression in the way they represent the religion.
□Cultural centres under local bodies should be developed as places for all sections of people to come together and interact.
□The move to dismantle higher education and research should be resisted. Rationalism and secular tradition should be preserved.
□Cultural festivals should be organized in rural areas.
Progressive works should be disseminated. Rural theaters should be activated.
