BHOPAL: A husband and wife's argument over the addition of two extra tomatoes to a curry nearly resulted in divorce. As the tomato crisis continues, households across the country are seeking alternative ingredients to substitute for tomatoes in their meals. Sanjeev Varma and his wife Arathi found themselves at odds when their disagreement escalated to a point where Arathi left their home with their daughter seeking refuge at her sister's house. Both are proprietors of a local restaurant.
The dispute began when Sanjeev added two additional tomatoes to the curry he was cooking. Arathi viewed it as an unnecessary waste considering the extreme prices tomatoes had reached. Sanjeev turned to the local police for assistance in locating them. The authorities swiftly launched an investigation. They found out that Arathi was at her sister's residence.
Acting as mediators, the police successfully resolved the conflict and reunited the couple. In a gesture of reconciliation, Sanjeev presented Arathi with half a kilogram of tomatoes as a peace offering. He also promised to never cook without her permission again.
