According to reports, Chatterjee pockets Rs 4 lakh every single day. Albeit being the CFO, Chatterjee also wields additional power and is more likely compared with the CEO of the firm. As of July 2023, Tata Steel has a market cap of $17.17 Billion. This makes Tata Steel the world's 1004th most valuable company. CFO Koushik Chatterjee earns Rs 14.21 crore annually.

According to last financial year's report, Koushik earned an annual total of Rs 15.17 crore, and since then, the market has taken a hit with the annual income of the CFO falling down in numbers. P B Balaji of Tata Motors is the only employee inside TATA earning far greater than Koushik Chatterjee. Balaji gets Rs 16.73 crores annually. Meanwhile, TATA steel chief executive officer T V Narendran is on the crescendo in the list taking home Rs 18.66 crores annually.

Koushik Chatterjee was born in Asansol in West Bengal. His schooling was at St Patrick's and he later took B.com from Kolkata only to tailor his professional life into a chartered accountant. Before stepping into TATA, Koushik had his professional stints at Britannia Biscuits and audit behemoth S. B. Billimoria & Co. It was former TATA steel CFO Ishaat Hussain who roped in Koushik into the company after much persuasion. At just 36 years, Koushik was appointed the Tata Steel finance vice president. Since 2012, the Bengal-based maven is assuming control as CFO of Tata Steels.
