KOZHIKODE: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yechury said that the BJP is targeting communal polarization by implementing the Uniform Civil Code. He was inaugurating the national seminar in Kozhikode organized by the CPM against the central move to implement the Uniform Civil Code. Yechury also pointed out that the political objective of creating Hindu-Muslim sectarianism and gaining an advantage in the 2024 elections is behind the new controversies.
"India's pluralism should be recognized. The constitution gives the right to the different social classes of India to preserve their custom, rites, and traditions. India's diversity should be accepted and moved forward. The current move is regardless of this. BJP aims at division in the name of uniformity. Uniformity is not equality," Yechury said.
