THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: LDF convener EP Jayarajan said that the controversy surrounding his absence from the CPM seminar against the Uniform Civil Code is unnecessary. He blamed the controversy surrounding the participation as a campaign to tarnish the seminar. The CPM leader also explained that his name was not in the pre-determined list of speakers at the seminar.
He clarified that the seminar was decided by the CPM and therefore the party itself decides the agenda and who should speak. "The controversy will only serve to question its international intent.", EP Jayarajan added.
EP Jayarajan's non-participation in the seminar organized by the CPM in Kozhikode against the central government's Uniform Civil Code policy was the subject of discussion. CPM State Secretary MV Govindan responded that the LDF convenor should not be specially invited to the seminar.
"CPM General Secretary will inaugurate the seminar. The central committee members and PB members should participate in that program and the convener should not be invited. The party's decision applies to everyone.", Govindan told the media.
