THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance has arrested the marketing manager of KSRTC for taking a bribe. C Udhayakumar, who also holds the charge of Deputy General Manager, was caught red-handed by the Vigilance while taking a bribe of Rs 30,000. Udhayakumar demanded a bribe to pass the bill for displaying advertisements on KSRTC buses. The Vigilance team trapped the KSRTC official at a club in Thiruvananthapuram after the middleman lodged a complaint against him.

According to the Vigilance team, Udhayakumar is a regular bribe taker. Udayakumar had demanded Rs 1 lakh as a bribe to pass the bill worth Rs 12 lakh. He had earlier received Rs 40,000. He then went on to threaten the complainant that he will not pass the bill unless he receives the rest of the amount. The Vigilance team took action on the basis of the complaint received against Udhayakumar.

Meanwhile, the Transport Minister has ordered the suspension of Udhayakumar. The suspension will come into effect once the departmental proceedings are completed.
