BALARAMAPURAM: Two toddlers turned victim of stray dog attacks in Kerala yet again. The two incidents happened yesterday at the same place but within different families. In Balaramapuram, two-year-old Dikshit was playing in the front yard of his house when a dog attacked him mercilessly. By evening, three-year-old Agnimitra was mauled by a dog in Kattachalkuzhi.
At yesterday morning 9:30 am, Dikshit was busy mired in games in the front of his house when one dog raced to the spot to bite fiercely in the ribs of the toddler. Dikshit created an uproar with cries and alarmed the neighbors and it was a senile lady who reached the spot first to see the dog dragging the kid away. She used a machete and swung it at the dog which paced away in fear. Dikshit was injured seriously and was shifted to a clinic in Balaramapuram. His father Deepu later learned about the incident and reached the hospital. The injured portion was cleaned with soap and Dikshit was soon shifted to a general hospital in the capital city.
Meanwhile, Agnimitra was attacked by the dog at 6 pm yesterday. Her helpless cries forced her mother and grandmother to reach the spot and shoo away the dog. Agnimitra was more seriously injured and is soon expected to undergo plastic surgery at KIMS hospital. According to the report, she suffered deep wounds on her forehead.
