NEW DELHI: Congress has decided to support Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi ordinance. The decision in this regard was taken by the Parliament policy-making meeting. The Congress announced its stand when the meeting of the opposition parties is to be held on Sunday. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had warned the Congress that if they did not declare their position before the meeting, the opposition would abandon the alliance move.
The Centre had brought an ordinance to encroach on the jurisdiction of the Delhi government. The Aam Aadmi Party is trying to introduce a bill in Parliament against this. AAP sought the support of all parties including the Congress in this regard. But the Congress did not clarify its position. Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge had said that they will take a stand before the Parliament session.
