WAYANAD: The body of five-year-old girl Daksha who went missing in the Venniyode River, has been found. The rescuers found the body of the girl, who jumped into the river with her mother, two kilometres away from the Pathikal bridge at Venniyode. The girl’s mother Darsana jumped into the river with her daughter on Thursday. Darsana was rescued by the locals but she had died the other day while undergoing treatment. They jumped into the river after consuming poison.
A youth seeing Darsana jumping into the river with her daughter rescued her and shifted her to the hospital. A search by the locals, fire rescue force, national disaster response force, and the police could not find her. Darsana died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Meppadi. A detailed examination confirmed that she had consumed poison.
32-year-old Darsana is wife of Om Prakash of Jine Street Ananthagiri near Kottathara Panchayat Office. She was four-months pregnant. Daksha was an UKG Student of Kalpetta St Joseph’s School. The reason for her to take the extreme step is not known.
