THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Meteorological Department has predicted the possibility of heavy rainfall in the state from Tuesday. The forecast is for isolated heavy rains in North Kerala. A yellow alert has been announced in Kozhikode, Kasargod and Kannur districts on Tuesday following the rain warning.

Meanwhile, Central Meteorological Department has advised not to go fishing on Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. From Monday to Wednesday, there is a possibility of wind gusting up to 55 kmph over Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. Fishermen are advised to be cautious during these days.

There is a possibility of light rain with thunder and lightning at isolated places in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad and Malappuram districts in the coming hours.

Today, winds of 45 to 56 kmph are predicted to blow over the coasts of south Tamil Nadu, Kanyakumari, which borders the Gulf of Mannar, and southwest Bay of Bengal, which borders the coast of south Sri Lanka. Wind gusts of up to 65 kilometres per hour have been warned on some occasions.
