THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Vigilance found more money from the house of KSRTC officer Udayakumar, who was arrested yesterday in a bribery case. The vigilance team recovered Rs 60,000 from his car. The cash was recovered from the parked Innova car after a search was conducted at the house of KSRTC marketing manager Udayakumar in Kumarapuram. The official has admitted that the money in the car was received as a bribe.
C Udayakumar, who also holds the charge of Deputy General Manager, was caught by the vigilance while accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 at Sree Moolam Club in Thiruvananthapuram. Udayakumar demanded a bribe to pass the bill for displaying advertisements on KSRTC buses. The officers were able to find the rest of the bribe money by taking Udayakumar into custody and interrogating him in detail. After his arrest, vigilance searches were conducted at his houses in Neyyatinkara and Kumarapuram.
Vigilance informs that Udayakumar used to accept bribes regularly. He demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to pass the bill of Rs 6 lakh. Udayakumar took Rs. 60,000 as a bribe and threatened the complainant that the bill would not be decided upon without handing over the balance amount. Vigilance set the trap for the officer once they received the complaint. The accused has been remanded till the 27th of this month.
