THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: 12 persons of the Kerala Police, who are accused in serious criminal cases and have gangster-mafia connections, will be dismissed soon. 25 criminals have been expelled in the last seven years.
The case details of two DySPs have been forwarded to the Home Department for dismissal. The CI who abused the accused in a POCSO case was given a dismissal notice. The information on 47 people in serious cases is being verified. Kerala Kaumudi had published a headline and a series titled 'Criminal Thoppi' pointing out the rule of criminals in police.
On Friday, 7 policemen were sacked for leaking the location and movements of top policemen to the sand mafia in Thrissur. It was discovered earlier that the policemen were failing the gang hunt by leaking information, and that the phones of the opposing gangs were being leaked to the gang leaders. The Chief Minister's suggestion is to ensure that action is taken against the policemen who help gangs and mafia groups, irrespective of their rank.
Internal vigilance cells of a confidential nature are functioning to detect and recommend the removal of criminals from police. These cells will detect misconduct of police officers of all ranks, nexus with sand mafias, criminals and gangsters, mistreatment of women and children, nexus with drug gangs, money laundering and usury. This will be examined by a committee consisting of the Chief of Police and Additional DGPs and action will be suggested. The dismissal will be after a departmental inquiry.
Will be expelled even if not punished
