THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Managements are not accepting the State Nursing Council's directive to pay the teachers of private nursing colleges at the UGC rate. As per the Indian Council's directive, the State Council issued directives to all the principals in this regard last day. But the principals are only in charge of the academic affairs of the college and management claim that they should decide on the salaries of the employees.

It also raises the question of how principals will implement what is required of the management. The Nursing Council is responsible for providing infrastructure for colleges and ensuring better education. It is the responsibility of the government to give instructions to the management regarding the salary of the employees.

The Nursing Council is of the view that the affiliation of colleges not paying UGC rates should not be renewed. The action was taken after the Indian nursing council, in its guidelines for running the college, asked the teachers to be paid at the UGC rate, but the management was not following it.Indian nursing council has asked the management to pay the salary fixed by the state government or the UGC.
