BENGALURU: A meeting of 24 opposition parties is scheduled to take place in Bengaluru over the next two days. The purpose of the meeting is to establish an alliance among opposition parties in the country to counter BJP. JDS, a prominent party has decided not to attend the meeting, causing concerns within the opposition camp.

JDS's absence from the meeting has raised questions about their position within the opposition alliance. There are indications that the JDS will be participating in a meeting of NDA which is set to begin tomorrow.

Regarding the NDA meeting, JDS Party President Deva Gowda stated, "We have not received an invitation to attend the NDA meeting from BJP President JP Nadda. If I receive an invitation, I will inform you."

Contrary to Deva Gowda's statement, Karnataka BJP General Secretary N. Ravikumar claims that the JDS has indeed been invited to the NDA meeting. It is reported that senior BJP leaders are interested in forming an alliance with the JDS in Karnataka ahead of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Discussions have already begun in this regard. In the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the BJP emerged victorious securing 25 out of 28 seats in the state. JDS is reportedly striving to improve its performance and catch up with BJP in the upcoming elections drawing lessons from its poor showing in the previous assembly elections.
