sexual-abuse

JAIPUR: A 17-year-old dalit girl who eloped with her boyfriend was gangraped by three college students. The incident happened Sunday early morning at Jodhpur in Rajasthan. The girl was subjected to brutal sexual abuse. The police nabbed them within hours of the incident.

The accused have been identified as Samandar Singh Batti, Dharampal Singh and Bhatam Singh. Police said they are ABVP activists and worked for the college polls. However, ABVP said they don’t have any ties with the accused.

Police said the three accused are in the age group between 20 to 22. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said strict action should be taken against the accused.

The girl eloped with her lover from Ajmer on Saturday and arrived in Jodhpur in the night. They went to a guest house to get a room, but left the place as the caretaker there misbehaved with her.

When they were standing outside the guest house, the three accused approached them and befriended them by offering food and promising a place to stay. The accused tricked the two into going to the hockey ground at the old campus of JNVU by telling them that they would take them to the railway station at 4 am on Sunday.
The three students assaulted the boy after reaching the ground and then gang-raped the minor girl and fled from the spot.

The three fled as morning walkers began to arrive on campus. The girl's boyfriend sought help from them, who then called the police. The police with the help of CCTV footage, tracked down the three at a house in Ganeshpura in Jodhpur. Two of them fractured their legs while trying to escape and the third sustained an injury to his hand.

Samander Singh is a first-year undergraduate student of the same university. Dharam Pal Singh is a postgraduate student. Bhattam Singh is a B.Ed student in Ajmer. The caretaker of the guest house was also arrested for misbehaving with the girl.
