CHENNAI: A five-foot-long cobra was found coiled around a statue of Nataraja in a closed room. The incident took place in Sirkali, Tamil Nadu on the 15th of this month. The snake was found coiled around the statue of Nataraja which was to be installed at a wedding venue.

The snake was found inside the storage room of an event management company owned by a man named Viji. The storage room was filled with all the utensils and decorative items needed for weddings. Workers who opened the room to clean things noticed the enormous snake wrapped around the neck of the Nataraja idol, a representation of Lord Shiva. Then the workers informed a local snake catcher named Pandyan. The snake was clinging to the statue so it was very difficult to pull it out. Pandyan eventually got the snake after considerable effort. The snake was later let loose in the nearby forest.
