THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has finally provided a respite for the interminable disasters happening in the Muthalapozhi estuary. Minister Saji Cherian after visiting the region held talks with the Latin archdiocese only to soon announce a relief package assuring financial assistance and protection to the bereaved families.

Minister elucidated to the locals, the deep politics played by Congress and BJP utilizing the death of fishermen folks. The government views Minister Saji Cherian's visit as a success and is of the view that the locals are slowly recognizing the shrewd game of the BJP, and Congress to leverage the issue to gain political brownies.

Yesterday, the central government assigned an expert panel to visit Muthalapozhi along with an entourage that had union minister of State V Muraleedharan. Latin Archdiocese Vicar General Fr. Eugene Perera had welcomed the move. Meanwhile, Congress is about to conduct a dharna led by MP Adoor Prakash on Tuesday in Muthalapozhi. Considering this turn of events and the political drubbing it could invite, the government in all haste announced a relief package to the fisherman's family.

Minister Saji Cherian has apprised the CM about his visit to the estuary, and the government is optimistic about the locals tilting in favor of them. However, the delay in dropping the case filed against fr Eugene Perera and others is turning into a boon for Congress and BJP to attack the government.
