KOCHI: In an affidavit filed in the High Court, Kalady Sanskrit University admitted to no fault from theirs while allowing former SFI leader and accused K Vidya an admission to a Ph.D. course. Earlier, S Varsha filed a plea in HC saying the university toppled the SC/ST reservation seat in favor of SFI leader Vidya. Registrar M B Gopalakrishnan has filed an affidavit in court regarding this. Justice Devan Ramachandran is expected to consider the petition today.

According to the affidavit:

The rules and norms of the university were duly followed while giving admission to Vidya. The graduate research fellowship or the entrance marks were not the only yardstick for the selection. During 2020, more students were found eligible for applying for Ph.D. courses. And the guides were comfortable assisting more students in their research group. It was after the suggestion from the research committee that five more students were forwarded to the registrar for consideration. From the list, three students with GRF were given admission. Meanwhile, Vidya also appealed to the registrar to select her for the course since her name was on the list. Vidya then approached HC and it was the court that asked the university to take a decision. Vidya was hence provided a seat after HC intrusion in the case. After this, another student S Divya also approached HC and the university also allowed a seat for her.
