THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Goa Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai recalls the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy. He said that Oommen Chandy was a person who believed that the basic principle of democracy is the sovereignty and superiority of the people and put it into practice in his life. Sreedharan Pillai added that the death of former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who became one of the best popular leaders Kerala has seen, was a heavy loss to national politics and Kerala public life.

Sreedharan Pillai recalled that Oommen Chandy became a popular leader and Chief Minister by interacting with the people and living as one of them, devoting his life to social responsibility. My book launch while he was the Chief Minister and his attendance at functions at my residence when he was the Leader of Opposition cannot be forgotten. Sreedharan Pillai also said that he had a very close personal relationship with Oommen Chandy.

PS Sreedharan Pillai said that Oommen Chandy has passed away after setting an example of many qualities that should be a lesson to anyone who wants to be a good public servant and expressed deep sorrow over his death and wished his soul eternal peace.
