PALAKKAD: Party disciplinary action against 20 people, including MLA Mohammed Muhsin and district committee member Kodiyil Ramakrishnan, based on the party commission report of sectarian activities in CPI meetings. Party district executive member Mohammed Muhsin has been demoted to the district committee, and district committee member Kodiyil Ramakrishnan and Pattambi constituency secretary PK Subhash have been demoted to branch. Some have been warned.
A three-member commission appointed by the party found that senior leader KE Ismail is also guilty of sectarianism from the branch to the district conference. Trithala, Pattambi, Mannarkkad and Nenmara area assemblages went to polls due to sectarianism. According to the commission report, KE Ismail's silence on the sectarian issues in the district conference held at Pattambi was questionable and in the issue that could have been avoided if Ismail intervened, he did not do anything. Former district secretary T Siddharthan, district executive member KR Mohandas and district committee member P Radhakrishnan were members of the inquiry commission. Trithala area committee may be dissolved based on the report submitted by the commission.
District Secretary KP Suresh Raj presided over the district committee meeting. The district secretary's announcement of action on the commission report was in the presence of state executive member V Chamunni.
