chandy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Oommen Chandy left this world after making even the CBI say that all the allegations against him were fabricated for political gain. The solar charges were the toughest.

Allegations against Oommen Chandy, who always 'lived' amid the crowd, were ones that no commonsensical person would believe. He was charged with non-bailable charges punishable by life imprisonment. The controversial solar heroine alleged that she had a bad experience in Cliffhouse. The crime branch found that Oommen Chandy was not at the Cliffhouse on this day, and the allegations came to an end. Despite the clean chit of the crime branch, the government handed over the investigation to the CBI.

The CBI, which investigated and collected evidence at Cliffhouse, could not find even a grain of truth. It was found that the two drivers whom the complainant said took her to Cliffhouse did not go to Cliffhouse that day. The complainant tried to frame PC George as an eye witness but the CBI rejected it.

The complainant had given a statement that to implement the Solar Renewable Energy Policy and get central approval for it, Thomas Kuruvila, Oommen Chandy's assistant, demanded two crore rupees on behalf of him and that she came to Delhi and paid Rs 1.9 crore. The CBI found that to be a lie too. CBI dropped the case against Oommen Chandy after finding the case to be false and fabricated, with false statements and fabricated witnesses.

In the report of the Justice Sivarajan Commission appointed by Oommen Chandy to investigate the solar allegation, the complainant's allegations against Oommen Chandy were repeated. The High Court struck down this section. DGPs Anilkanth and Rajesh Dewan IG Dinendra Kashyap told the government that the allegations were not credible. There was also legal advice that the case would not stand. Even though the current police chief Sheikh Darvesh Sabih investigated, no evidence was found against Oommen Chandy, yet the government invited the CBI. The allegations of solar were used as a trump card for political gain but they failed twice in front of Oommen Chandy.

Clean chit in bar bribery too

In the bar corruption case that put the Oommen Chandy government in crisis, Finance Minister KM Mani had to resign but was eventually given a clean chit by the vigilance. The UDF suffered a major setback in the 2016 assembly elections that were fueled by allegations. In 2018, Vigilance discovered that the bribery was a scam.
