NEW DELHI: The Lavalin case was adjourned by the Supreme Court for the 27th time without hearing the case. It will be heard again on September 12. When the case was called yesterday, the Center and the CBI demanded that it be heard next Tuesday. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's lawyer Harish Salve informed that although he is ready for the argument, it will be difficult on Tuesday and August. Then it was shifted to September considering the convenience of all the parties.

When Harish Salve said that the High Court had quashed the charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act in the case, the CBI said that the plea was to examine it.When the case was heard on April 24, Justice C.T. Ravikumar, who is also a Malayali had withdrawn. Then the bench of justices Suryakant and Dipankar Dutta heard the case yesterday. Justice Suryakant will be part of the five-judge constitution bench from August 2. Public interest litigation against the repeal of Article 370, which gives special powers to Jammu and Kashmir, will be heard. That also led to Lavalin's move to September.

CBI's appeal against the acquittal of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, former Energy Secretary K. Mohanachandran, former joint secretary A Francis and the petition from KSEB Former officers R. Sivadas, Kasthuriranga Iyer, K.G. Rajasekaran to be acquitted from the case is also being considered.
