THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The vehicle carrying the body of former chief minister Oommen Chandy has left for Kottayam from Puthupally House at Jagathy. A large crowd was witnessed in Puthupally House for a last glimpse of the departed soul. The funeral procession carrying the body left the capital city Wednesday morning at 7 am.

The procession will reach Kottayam via Kesavadasapuram, Venjaramoodu, Kilimanoor, Kottarakkara, Adoor, Pandalam, Chengannur, Thiruvalla and Changanassery. The body will be brought to Thirunakkara Maidan in the evening for public homage and from here it will be brought to the family home in Puthupally by night. The body will be taken to St George's Church in Puthupally as a funeral procession at 2 pm on Thursday. Funeral services will begin at 3 pm.

The body reached Thiruvananthapuram at 2.30 pm yesterday and was kept for the people to pay homage in four places. People from all parts of the state thronged to pay homage when the body was kept in Puthupally House, Durbar Hall in Secretariat and then at St George's Cathedral in Palayam and later at KPCC headquarters, Indira Bhavan. Many bursts into tears seeing the body of the former chief minister. The body was brought back from KPCC headquarters to Puthupally home early Wednesday morning.
