ALUVA: KSEB disconnected power at the house of a 70-year-old widow due to non-payment of electricity bill of Rs.287.
Kalikutty, an elderly woman in Aluva's Madhavapuram Harijan Colony, has been in the dark for more than a week. After the death of her husband, she has been living alone for years. As per the allegations, when Kalikutty was not at home, the KSEB staff came and disconnected the electricity.
When the BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha leaders visited the colony yesterday as part of a public relations program, she told them that the electricity was cut off. Then the BJP workers reached the KSEB office and paid the money and restored the electricity.
Scheduled Caste Morcha District President Manoj Manakekara, BJP Aluva Mandal General Secretary Pradeep Perumpadanna, leaders Vinukumar Muttom, Anoop Chunangamveli and others demanded that action should be taken against the officials for this heinous act against the elderly woman.
