NILAMEL: The death of 21-year-old youth found hanging in his house in Chithara has been proved to be a murder. The dead is Adarsh. His father Thulasidheeran (63) of Abhilash Bhavan near Chithara Society Mukku in Kadakkal, mother Maniyammal (53) and brother Abhilash (25) were arrested by a team led by Chithara circle inspector M Rajesh.

Police said Adarsh was brought home by his parents and brother after he created a ruckus in an inebriated condition at 9 pm on Sunday night. When he continued the act, his family tied both his hands and then he threatened them. It continued for a while. In the meanwhile, Adarsh was strangled to death by his father and brother around midnight. The three later hatched a conspiracy to picture the murder as a suicide. With the help of his mother Maniyammal, they hung the body using a shawl in the bedroom near the kitchen. In the morning Thulasidheeran told his neighbours that his son had committed suicide. He then repeated the same lie to the panchayat president, who is also a ward member.

When the police reached home, his body was found lying on the ground. They told police that they untied it. However, in addition to the shawl being tightened around the neck, some marks of a rope being tightened was also found. Some minor injuries were found on his body. With this, a suspicion of murder grew. The police questioned his parents and brother in the station. There were contradictions in the statements of the three. The three were released on the condition of questioning them again after getting the post mortem report. A preliminary post-mortem report received yesterday stated that the cause of death was strangulation by someone with a rope. With this, Adarsh’s mother revealed the truth while questioning them again.
