Union Minister Smriti Irani responded that it was an inhumane and reprehensible act. She said that she spoke to Manipur Chief Minister Biren Singh regarding the incident. The Minister informed that the investigation is going on and the Chief Minister has assured that the culprits will be brought to justice.

Rahul Gandhi has posted a tweet blaming the Prime Minister for the current situation in Manipur. Modi's silence and inaction have led to chaos in Manipur. When India is attacked in Manipur, the new opposition group 'India' will not remain silent. Rahul responded that he is with the people of Manipur and that peace is the only way forward.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh said that 77 days have passed since two women were stripped naked and raped. He responded that it has been 63 days since the FIR was filed against the unknown persons and the culprits are still absconding.

'Due to the internet ban in Manipur, such a horrific incident did not come to light. It is inexcusable that the Women and Child Development Minister waited 76 days to talk to the Chief Minister of Manipur in this regard. Did the central government, the home minister or the prime minister not know about this? Will the Modi government end the program that works as if everything is fine? When will the Chief Minister of Manipur be changed? How many more such incidents have been suppressed?' Jairam Ramesh also responded that when the monsoon session starts today, the new coalition 'India' will demand an answer.

'Shocked to see video of violence against women in Manipur'. Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar said that he hopes that the culprits will be punished so severely that no one would ever think of doing such a horrible thing again.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also condemned the incident. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi came forward with a response to the incident. He said that the Manipur incident is a shame for the country and the culprits will not escape.
