KOCHI: Vinayakan faces backlash for his controversial remarks and alleged insult of the late former Chief Minister, Oommen Chandy. The Ernakulam North Police has received multiple complaints from the public demanding action against the actor leading to a decision to seek legal advice in order to pursue the matter further.
Vinayakan used his official Facebook page to make abusive remarks during the funeral procession of Oommen Chandy. ‘Who is this Oommen Chandy and why holiday was given for three days and told media to stop this and go. My father died and your father has also died. What should we do about it? Even if you think good, I won’t think so. If we look at Karunakaran's case, we know who he is,’ said Vinayakan in his post. Vinayakan's comments drew widespread protests with citizens expressing their outrage over his disrespectful behavior.
Soni Pananthanam, a Youth Congress activist lodged a formal complaint with the Kochi ACP. Ajith Ameer Bawa, DCC General Secretary and Satheesh, the District General Secretary of the Youth Congress, also filed complaints with the police and DGP.
