IMPHAL: The recent release of a video depicting the humiliation and assault of two women in Manipur has ignited a surge of public anger and condemnation against the government. The survivors hailing from the Kuki community were subjected to a toture leading to widespread outrage and calls for justice.

The incident which occurred on May 4 in Kangpokli district exposed the true face of an ongoing conflict in Manipur. The video captured the two Kuki women being forced to walk naked on the road while strangers violated their privacy by touching them inappropriately. ITLF, a Kuki organization made an allegation claiming that the victims were also gang-raped by the mob.

In the wake of the video's release, one of the survivors came forward to reveal shocking details about the involvement of the police. The survivor reported that officers brought her from her village and handed her over to the mob.

Faced with mounting pressure, the Manipur police took action and arrested a suspect identified in the video. Heradas, a 32-year-old native of Thoubal was arrested one day after the video went viral.
