NEW DELHI: The National Commission of Women has ordered Twitter to immediately remove every content related to the Manipur tragedy that saw two women being paraded naked across the road by assailants.
“ Twitter should immediately remove those videos showing the naked parading of two women in Manipur. The video is exposing their identity and it is a breach of rules. This would subject to a crime and we hope Twitter will oblige.” NCW page tweeted.
NCW has formally directed the DGP of Manipur to submit a report and initiate actions against the gore incident that shook the nation yesterday. The video purported to be from May 4th saw two Kuki women being molested and paraded naked across the road by a mob. One of the assailants is seen slapping the woman only to later feel her privates, which was audaciously captured on phones by people present there. Soon after the dreadful parade, it is assumed that the two women turned victims of gang rape near the fields. The NCW has issued strict orders to netizens not to share this video since the case is closely under the watch of central agencies.
Earlier today, PM Narendra Modi broke his silence over the Manipur issue and adopted an unusual caustic tone saying he was filled with pain and anger after learning about the molestation episode.
