KOCHI: Ernakulam North Police on Thursday registered a case against actor Vinayakan for insulting the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy through social media. The police registered the cases based on the complaint lodged by Ernakulam DCC General Secretary Ajit Ameer Bawa with Ernakulam Assistant City Police Commissioner.

Vinayakan made derogatory remarks about the late Chief Minister during a Facebook Live session. The video triggered widespread criticism and outrage leading the actor to subsequently delete it.
