THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Suraj Venjaramoodu has given an explanation after a post he shared in response to the violence against women in Manipur disappeared from social media. Suraj clarified that the post was not removed by him but was taken down by Facebook and Instagram stating that it was against the community standards.
Suraj expressed his protest against the incident where two Kuki women were stripped naked by the rioters.
Meanwhile, the National Commission for Women (NCW) had earlier informed that it had instructed Twitter to remove the video of the said incident. "NCW has formally directed the Head, Public Policy at @TwitterIndia to remove the video showing the disgraceful act of two women being paraded naked. This video compromises the victims' identities and is a punishable offense.", the tweet reads.
