KOTTAYAM: Chandy Oommen, son of former chief minister late Oommen Chandy said that no case should be taken against actor Vinayakan for insulting his father on social media. He said that if his father was alive, he also would have said the same. Dad would have seen it as Vinayakan’s personal opinion. Meantime, the police are likely to question him today.

Vinayakan’s remarks were via a Facebook Live during the funeral procession of the former chief minister. In the live video, the actor asked ‘Who is this Oommen Chandy, why three days' mourning declared on his demise.’ He also criticized the media for the wide coverage given to the procession carrying the body of Chandy to Puthuppally in Kottayam. Following social media outrage and widespread protests from all sides, the actor withdrew the post. The police registered a case on the complaint of Congress workers in connection with the incident.
