NEW DELHI: IMD has issued a warning about the possibility of widespread rain hitting various parts of the country with states like Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Gujarat bracing for very heavy rainfall.
Gujarat is on high alert as the forecast indicates the potential for floods. Currently, the regions of Saurashtra and Kutch are experiencing intense downpours leading to the submergence of many low-lying areas. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has visited the affected areas to assess the situation.
In Himachal Pradesh, heavy rains have resulted in flash floods in Kulu and Manali causing extensive destruction to homes and washing away roads. The estimated damage in Himachal Pradesh alone amounts to 5000 crore rupees. The situation is also alarming in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Meanwhile, the death toll from a landslip in Maharashtra's Raigad district has tragically risen to 22 with the search for missing individuals still ongoing.
