THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There are reports that plans are being made to mortgage Swift buses in KSRTC, which is facing an acute financial crisis. A media report suggests that if the Pinarayi government gives permission, Swift buses may be used to take a loan.
If at least 200 crore rupees are obtained in the form of a loan, it may be possible to clear the salary arrears owed to the employees. At least 150 crores should be secured immediately to pay the salaries. Otherwise, the employees' Onam celebration will be in crisis.
At the same time, the report also states that none of the financial institutions are ready to give loans to KSRTC. The government had earlier promised Rs 50 crore as monthly assistance. However, the delay in receiving this assistance is one of the main reasons for the crisis in KSRTC.
