KOLLAM: Aneesh, 27-year-old has been arrested by Karunagappally police in Kuthirapanthi, Kambizheth East following a complaint from a young woman. The accused allegedly raped the woman hailing from Pathanamthitta whom he had befriended through a fake Instagram account. Aneesh promised to marry the young woman. He invited her to a lodge in Karunagappalli where he assaulted her.

After withdrawing on his promise of marriage, the young woman approached the police to file a formal complaint. The police registered a case and initiated an investigation that led to the arrest of the suspect. Upon closer scrutiny by the cyber cell, it was revealed that Aneesh's social media account was fake. A team led by Karunagapally Police Inspector Biju and comprised of SMs Shemir, Shajimon, Rahim and CPO Hashim, arrested the accused.
