ginger

LUCKNOW: We have recently reported news regarding tomatoes being robbed in broad daylight. The soaring price of tomatoes in the market might have paved the way for the thieves to zero in on a new target. However now, in a shocking case, the robbers took almost 50 bags of ginger from a truck parked near Basti in Uttar Pradesh.

The truck was parked on Kaptanganj NH 28 when the culprits sneaked in to steal ginger. Indians have mostly grown up hearing fables about thieves targeting yellow metal and money among valuable assets. However, it is turning into a new normal in contemporary times as thieves and robbers are of the belief that vegetables tend to bring more lucrative business than gold.

The truck was parked adjacent to a police station thus the robbery has put into question the efficiency of UP police. The truck was carting the ginger from West Bengal to Delhi when the incident happened. Ginger prices in the retail market have escalated to Rs 200 to 250 per kg, and it comes as no wonder why the thieves shifted their target to vegetables. The driver immediately after learning about the robbery complained to the nearby police station. It is estimated that the stolen goods cost near to Rs 5 lakh in the market.
