THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister Antony Raju has issued an order allowing differently-abled persons with 40 percent disability to travel with concession in private buses as well. While differently-abled persons were getting benefits in KSRTC buses, concessions in private buses were given based on specific criteria only.
Until now, only those with 45 percent disability or more were allowed travel concession in private buses. The minister said that the special order was issued after noticing the provisions of the Disability Rights Act. The Minister announced this while inaugurating an awareness class on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities conducted for the officers under the auspices of the Disability Commissionerate.

Meanwhile, in the incident where a girl who vomited in the KSRTC bus was made to clean the bus herself, KSRTC has taken action against the driver. SN Shiji, a driver from Neyyatinkara depot, has been suspended from service. The incident happened last Thursday. Authorities have started an investigation into the incident. According to reports, the children of the driver of another KSRTC bus are the ones who had the bad experience. The girl and her sister were returning from the hospital after seeing the dentist. Reports are coming out that after the girl vomited inside the bus, the driver got angry and asked the sisters to wash the bus.
