NEW DELHI: As tomato prices soar, Union Minister brings a piece of news that gives relief to the market. Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, has informed Parliament that the price of tomatoes will come down in the coming days.

There will be the arrival of new crops from Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh in the coming days. This will bring relief to the retail market. Ashwani Kumar was replying to MP Karthikeya Sharma's question during the annual session of Parliament. The minister also said that tomatoes are being provided at subsidized rates to make them available to consumers at an affordable price.

Due to the recent rise in tomato prices, farmers have expanded tomato cultivation. The minister said that this is expected to increase production in the coming months and help in achieving price stability.

The ongoing heavy rains and floods in various parts of the country have adversely affected the production and availability of tomatoes, leading to a rise in prices. Since it is monsoon season, there is also a crisis in marketing. It is reported that the delay in planting and adverse weather conditions is what led to an increase in tomato prices.
