KANNUR: CPM state committee member P Jayarajan said that a petition has been sent to the CBI seeking further investigation into the Shukoor murder case. He told media that the petition was filed based on the disclosure made by KPCC Secretary BRM Shafeer in Kannur.
During the speech, Shafeer had said that KPCC president K Sudhakaran implicated P Jayarajan and TV Rajesh in the case by pressuring the police and went to Delhi and put pressure on the CBI. This was said when Sudhakaran was on the stage. P Jayarajan told the media that this shows that interference was done in the name of political rivalry. The petition was filed on the basis of legal advice. There is a good conviction that we are innocent in the case. P Jayarajan also reiterated that he was deliberately implicated in the murder which took place while he was being treated at Taliparamba Cooperative Hospital.
BRM Shafeer's remarks were made at a political briefing held in Kannur to declare support for KPCC president K Sudhakaran in the context of Sudhakaran's inclusion in the Monson Mavunkal case. After the controversy, Shafeer corrected that it was a slip of the tongue but CPM took up the issue.
Shafeer's Kannur speech is as follows
"The fight this man took when Ariyil Shukoor was killed...he held Shukoor's mother close. It's a loss for that family. An FIR was lodged by putting pressure on the police. Went to Delhi for CBI. A legal battle ensued. Without yielding to adjustments...if Jayarajan and Rajesh are accused in the Ariyil Shukoor murder case, then each of you should know that this man's sweat is behind it.'
