KUTTANAD: A man was found charred to death in his court. The deceased has been identified as James Kutty George (49), of Mammoottil in Edathwa panchayat sixth ward. According to the police, he got inside the car and poured petrol on himself and set it on fire. The incident took place around 3.50 am yesterday along the Edathwa-Thayangari road on the western side of Edathwa Chungam Edachungam field. Seeing the fire in the car, the dog of the nearby house started barking and making noise. The first to see the incident was a neighbour and his son. According to them, the fire was extinguished after intensive efforts by the police and the fire force. By that time, the body and the car were burnt.

James Kutty George, who was abroad with his family, returned home recently. The police said that family problems were the reason for the suicide and the sick man used to get drunk and fight with his family members. It is common for him to quarrel with his wife and children and leave home at night and return later. The family had lodged a complaint with the Edathwa police after he left the house in a car around 11 pm last night and did not return. The incident is under investigation. Hints from pacemaker

From the number plate of the car found at the scene, there were hints the body belong to James Kutty George. Edathwa police reached the spot and conducted preliminary tests, but there was nothing left to confirm the person as the body was fullu burnt. Then during the examination conducted by the forensic department, a pacemaker was found in the body. The family members also identified the rod that was placed after a fracture in the arm.
